Katherine Blackwell

My passion for helping others has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My love of health and wellness and my time working with the Military has been a big influence on shifting my focus in the direction of mental performance training.


I started playing softball in elementary school. At times playing catcher but mainly third base. I loved it. Everything about it. Except the performance anxiety. I struggled with confidence which impacted my focus. If I had time to think, I would mess up the throw to first base. Ultimately my fear of failing got the best of me senior year in high school and I decided not to even tryout. If only I knew then, what I know now!

 

After graduate school I started working with a personal trainer doing group kettlebell classes for a year. Then in 2011, I left the gym to join CrossFit Temecula. I am naturally competitive and quickly learned I needed to shift my focus from beating others, to beating my personal
record. Being part of Crossfit Temecula showed me the positive impact a supportive community can have on your performance.  Throughout the years I’ve also discovering my love of wakeboarding, mountain biking, spinning, rowing and barre.

 

These past five years, I've dealt with a shoulder injury that has limited my ability to work out. Dealing with the frustration of going to multiple doctors and seeing little improvement fueled my desire to work with others who have experienced an injury and the frustrations that can accompany the recovery process.

I take a solution-focused holistic approach when working with individuals. Recognizing the importance of the mind body connection, I combine my clinical skills, a brain-based technique called brainspotting and evidence based mental training techniques from the field of sport psychology.

I am straightforward in my approach and take an active role in helping you achieve your goals, so come ready to do the work! This involves helping you identify your goals, recognize your strengths, and strengthen your weaknesses.
